Why do you want to go to heaven? Have you ever really thought about the answer?
Our worldly wisdom tells us that if we want to get or accomplish anything in life, we have to set it in our minds as a goal and then motivate ourselves to achieve that goal.
So why does God make our ultimate goal, the place which every person desires more than anything else in the world, the one place that “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor the mind conceived?”
There are certainly many reasons, in God’s infinite wisdom, but perhaps one of the clearest is that God doesn’t want us to get so caught up in the destination that we overlook the meaning of the journey.
It is on the journey when we discover the truth that if heaven is union with God, and God is calling us to union with him on the journey, that the journey to heaven, is in fact heaven itself.
Do you want to go to heaven because you desire union with God, or because you mistakenly believe that heaven will be some materialist paradise with all the food, comfort, and pleasures you could ever want?
Get clear about why you want to go to heaven, and set about getting there before you die. There is nothing greater you can pursue in this life. So remember, don’t just be yourself, be the-best-version-of-yourself.
