When I was a child, my parents often took my brothers and me
to the beach. We would swim and build sand castles. We used to
go to Manly Beach. I always go there when I return to Sydney.
There is something powerful and wonderful about the places of
our childhood. In a mystical way they remind us of who we once
were, which brings into focus who we are now. They remind us of
our story. Everyone has one, and our own story is an indispensable
tool in the journey to grow and change. I like to visit Manly Beach,
to eat in restaurants I ate in on special occasions, to walk on the
soccer fields I once played on.
Visit the places of your childhood. That would be a sacred hour
well spent.
