How is the best way to live? The greatest minds of every age have pondered this question. Here are three guiding principles:
The First Principal: You are here to become the-best-version-of-yourself and help others to do the same. Make every decision based on whether or not it will help you become a-better-version-of-yourself. Anyone or anything that doesn’t help you become the-best-version-of-yourself is too small for you.
The Second Principal: Fill your life with virtue. Two patient people will always have a better relationship than two impatient people. Two generous people will always have a better relationship than two selfish people. Virtue is the best measure of excellence in a human being.
The Third Principal: Self-control. Success at anything depends on self-control, in particular the ability to delay gratification. Our health, relationships, personal finances, careers, parenting, and spiritual life all rise or fall based on our ability to exercise self-control and delay gratification.
You cannot live your best life if you don’t know the best way to live.
