Parenting in the twenty-first century is no easy proposition. We are busy because the world is busier, and the busier the world gets the more time it takes to parent successfully. Here in this section we have laid out a plan. Let’s review briefly.
Clearly establish what you are trying to achieve. Know what success looks like. Very few good things happen by accident, they are usually the result of a well-thought-out and executed plan.
Be aware that you are a leader. Study other great leaders in a variety of areas in life. Develop the traits that are responsible for their success. Learn to apply them to your parenting. Know what you should and should not be willing to sacrifice in order to help your children become the-best-version-of-themselves.
Determine what your children’s legitimate needs are, but also become intimately aware of your own needs. Acknowledge the powerful role dreams and fears play in our lives. Focus on the most important things, not just the urgent things. Parent toward your vision. Beware of parenting to be popular. Adopt a tough but fair approach to decisions in order to hold your children accountable.
